South of I-8, I-15 kind of sputters out and picks up as CA 15 a few miles back.
I-15 between LA and Las Vegas is a fascinating road. First you get to see the World's Largest Thermometer in Baker, CA. Then you get to see the mysterious ZZYZX Rd. After that, you climb up to Mountain Pass, CA, hoping your car won't overheat. Once you get to the top, you go around a bend, and see a casino. Ah Nevada is right here, you think. You drive some more. You're still in California. You drive some more. You're still in California. By the time you actually do make it to the border, you're half convinced that the casino was just a mirage.
