If you start on I-80 in NE and go to I-71in Ohio, then this route is continuous. The connection to I-95 involves traffic lights.
It's not actually new, but it has been extended. The Pa Tpk NE Extension is now marked as I-476. It was formerely PA 9. This means that the entire Pa TPK system is now marked either as 76 or a x76 number. The original path of I-476 was from I-95, just east of Chester, to I-276 PA TPK @ the NE EXT PA 9 JCT. Now it follows the NE EXT to Clarks Summit, Pa and I-81. It's 123 miles, which is a whole lot more than the infamous I-99. The current signs simply says "I-476 FORMERLY PA 9" There has been no new construction to raise the standards, so i guess they just felt like having the whole turnpike interstate. It is very unusal since I-476 goes 100 miles without intersecting with a 76 and ends at I-81 and I-95. I confirmed this yesterday when I traveled on it.
